A B S T R A C TMagazine locking means for firearms of the type having a pistolgrip or a corresponding part to be grabbed by the firing hand of themarksman, and in which an exchangable magazine is adapted to beintroduced, and in which a magazine catch is adapted toreleasably lock the magazine a position introduced in a magazineguide of the pistol grip or in a corresponding inner position, andin which the magazine catch is movable mounted at the frontedge of the magazine guide and is formed so as to engageunder a projecting part at the front side of the magazinewhen the magazine catch is in its locking position. The magazinecatch is forced with an upper yoke part having two grab parts, which protect on each side of the magazine guide, andwhich readily and without the need of changing hand grip can beactuated optionally the thumb of the left hand or the right hand forreleasing the magazine.
