The tool consists of an elongate body (1) with two segments having longitudinal passages, one (2) of which is connectable to a vacuum source, and the other (3) to a suction nozzle. The inner ends of the two passages are connected by openings (6, 7) into a guide channel (5). The channel forms the seat for a longitudinal slide valve (9), and has a flat base surface which is contacted at three regions (10, 12, 13) by the valve member. The central one of the three contact regions is formed by an endless wall which defines a closed space, and the other two contact regions are formed at the ends of the valve member. ADVANTAGE - Improved guidance and sealing of valve member, increasing suction efficiency.
