The device for transmitting plane waves in a fluid represents the coupling system between the vibration transmitter (power source) and the object surface (power sink) to be treated. This is normally performed in liquid-filled spaces having power distributions which are unequal because of standing waves (natural resonance (self-resonant frequency)), i.e. dead regions on the nodal lines and gas-filled cavity shadows as a fixed position function (eigenvalues of the solution of the wave equation in tightly limited spaces). It is possible using the device developed (coupling system) to clean relatively large surfaces of high coating quality by means of continuous power (fixed cavitation) and in so doing to treat the entire surface. The power distribution (natural resonances) which is not spatially fixed permits adaptation to the power output even in the case of change in the coating during the working operation.
