Dipping coils etc. in liq. resins - machine rotates coils and brings up to them series of baths contg. resin which is kept at constant level and then lowers baths again
Symmetrical electrical or other winding are impregnated with macromolecular liquids and polymers in partic. such as unsatd. polyesters whilst at least approx. horizontal. The windings etc. are rotated about their longitudinal axis and are dipped in segments in a bath which is moved upwards, and the level of the liq. in the bath is maintained at a set pt. In the simplified version shown the bath consists of six successive segments (3) which liq. polyester flows via feeders (5) and a return (6). The latter (6) feeds the tank (7) and this in turn feeds (5). Flow to balance the usage passes under pressure through the feed lines (23,24). A motor (25a) operated stepwise with cross shaft (25) and threaded spindles raises the bath (1) in positive and negative Z-movements successively before and after the coils are dipped in the bath. The resin in the bath is kept at constant level, it is brought to the windings and dropped again while it is subject to capilary action. A number of coils etc. are dipped in gps. ADVANTAGE - The procedure is suitable for the mass prodn. of machine coils. It can readily be matched to suit the cycle times in the machine prodn.
