The current regulator (4), inserted between a DC battery (1) and an AC load (11), uses a controlled semiconductor bridge (5) across which the AC load (11) is connected in series with a choke (6,7). The latter is divided into main (6) and auxiliary (7) chokes connected in series, the auxiliary choke inductance ensuring that it's effective when the main choke (5) is saturated. The main choke (6) may have two individual coils wound around a common core, each lying in the current path for the AC load (11). ADVANTAGE - Reduced instability.
