A complex of hydrosoluble peptides is isolated from the epithalamo-epiphyseal region of an animal's brain and has a molecular mass of 250 to 11000 dalton, an isoelectric point lying within the pH value of 3.0 and 10.5 and contains amino-acids in an amount of (0.34-4.0) &cirf& 10-3 mu mol/mg. The process for producing the complex comprises treating the epithalamo-epiphyseal tissue with an organic solvent, disintegrating the tissue, extracting the complex with 1 to 10 percent aqueous acetic acid in the presence of zinc chioride, separating the precipitate and the supernatant, the complex of polypeptides is then precipitated from said supernantant with an organic solvent. This precipitate is washed with an organic solvent and dried, the complex is water-extracted from the dried precipitate, the thus obtained solution is then separated from the precipitate, filtration-sterilized and lyophilized. The complex affects the neuro-endocrime system, acts as an immunostimulant and as an inhibitor of hormone-dependent tumours.
