PURPOSE: To protect a wall surface by pouring a dry gas into a machine of fluid entrainment type or positive displacement fluid entrainment type, or a discharge area of one of its stages so as to be distributed over the surface. CONSTITUTION: A Roots machine having a stator 1 and rotors 2, 3 is provided with a suction port 4 and a discharge port 5. A wall 6 of a discharge duct is surrounded by a jacket 7 provided with an opening 8 to introduce a gas indicated by an arrow 9 to form a porous wall. The gas is distributed over the wall surface to protect a discharge side wall.
