The method is used in the chemical, pharmaceutical and food industry for studying the conformation state of adsorbed polymer layers and for controlling the stability of colloid suspensions with polymer coating. It is fast and applicable for highly diluted dispersion systems. By this method, the electrooptic effect is measured of a series of water suspensions of colloidal particles with different concentration of charge-free polymer and the polymer concentration is given when the relaxation frequency of the electrooptic effect changes abruptly.
