An orthopaedic bandage comprises a support carrying a vinyl compound, which compound polymerizes when it is exposed to a water-activated vinyl polymerization catalyst. The vinyl compound is a hydrophilic prepolymer which contains at least two polymerizable vinyl groups. The use of a hydrophilic prepolymer which contains at least two polymerizable groups results in a storage- stable bandage which forms a bandage of good strength when exposed to a water-activated polymerization catalyst.
