Instrument able to discriminate the differences between two responses. These are responses that the human senses would give off simultaneously to stimuli of different physical natures. The instrument also measures the speed of the dominant response.
The instrument consists of two entrances. These entrances control the signals with two J-K Master/Slaves. Their two functions are to be the passage for the signals and to act as a reciprocal block for the entrance, so that if two messages enter only the first one is able to pass. This is called the response dominance. If both entrances are activated in response to one physical stimulus, a light or a sound, as shown in table 1 where two buttons or other electrical signal sources are pressed, it can determine which was pressed first and for how long. The application in table 1 explains the procedures where the stimulus continues for 2 seconds, the maximum length of time, and the presentation cycle varies by the response times: 4 seconds when there is no response and 6 to 8 second when there is a response. In Table 1, additional examples of sources are given of signals to be blocked: one is the pressing of two buttons, the other is sounds or words entering from two microphones. There are also two possible sources for stimuli, one visual the other auditory. In any case as already stated the procedures to block the signal and the stimuli can be very different.
