Prodn. of a granulate (esp. to be dried in a fluidised bed) from a mixt. of different moisture content materials comprises controlling mixing ratio of moist and dry materials so constant, uniform granulate size distribution is obtd.. Particle size and/or moisture content to the granulate (17) leaving the granulating device (2) is measured, (6,7,25) and the mixing ratio of the moist and dry materials fed to the granulating device (2) is adjusted (9,26) w.r.t. measurement. Appts. for carrying out the process is also claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - Esp. for granulating sludge-type materials which are to be fluidised bed dried prior to further processing, esp. combustion. It produces uniformly sized granules which can be easily uniformly dried in a fluidised bed to give uniformly high stable granules with high resistance to transport and storage and easy processability.
