Method of producing porous ceramic bodies in a tunnel furnace where the max temperature exists in the furnace centre (BH) and air (L) is blown through in counter-current to the passage of bodies (R), whereby a filler material including a component which can be decomposed in the lower temperature areas (BN) of the furnace to produce a pyrolysis gas is mixed into the ceramic material making up the body. The gas leaves the body after creating pores and is collected and fed back to the hottest part of the tunnel (BH) where it is oxidised as it gives out energy. USE/ADVANTAGE - Producing porous tile bricks. Economic way of producing porous tiles which is environmentally friendly. The oxidised pyrolysis gas acts as an extra form of heat and thereby reduces the total external heat requirments.
