The first heat source warms the organic material directly, preferably in the centre region. The second source indirectly heats the material (4) by the water in the incubator (2). The temperatures (T1,T2) pertaining in the organic material and the heat-conducting medium (3,7) are measured. In a control (6) the difference of these measurement values (delta T1) is compared with a stipulated value (delta T5). The first heat source is only activated until the latter value is attained. Then this source is deactivated until the difference of the measured values (T1,T2) equalises, i.e. disappears. The second heat source is then either continuously activated or only while the first source is deactivated. This cycle is repeated until the organic material has reached a predetermined temperature without a temperature gradient remaining in it. ADVANTAGE - Reduced disinfecting time without exceeding local handling temperature which could lead to reduction of functional efficiency of the organic material. Partical or completely automatic control possible.
