Coder and decoder for composite television system with increased resolution - has offset scanning of luminance and chrominance picture points with static picture content with data, whether picture point blocks represent static or dynamic picture content transformed into upper and lower edge lines
A coder receives at its inputs red, green and blue video signals as source signals with a 16:9 picture side ratio and 1240/1249 lines, 50 Hz, picture alternating frequency and 2:1 interlace. With other source signals care is taken that by a previous transcoding corresp. video signals are available for processing. The source signals are firstly converted in a matrix (1) into digital luminance component Y, and into the two chrominance components U, V. The luminance component is evaluated in a movement detector circuit (41). The output signals of the movement detector circuit fed to a signal processing circuit (2) and a summation circuit (9) indicate whether a picture point block of e.g. 8.8 picture points is to be processed in static or dynamic mode. A second movement detector circuit can also be used which is fed with the chrominance components, permitting a separate, corresponding movement-dependent processing of the chrominance components. ADVANTAGE - Television system compatible with known composite television standards, with increased resolution.
