A method of combatting whirlwinds involves the use of aircraft to observe the characteristic weather and climatic conditions and to drop balloons filled with hydrogen or another gas equipped with an ignition device. The balloons are exploded by automatic ignition or by remote control, when they are in the eye of the whirlwind or the area which gives rise to the turbulence. The operation can be repeated at intervals as necessary. USE/ADVANTAGE - The explosions give rise to new cloud formations.
