A flap valve has a flap (5), rotatable and axially-movable w.r.t. a valve seat (4). A flap spindle (7), fixed against rotation w.r.t. the flap, is supported in housing-mounted bearings (9), that allow axial flap movement. The bearings (9) are pref. eccentric disc bushes. ADVANTAGE - Simplified valve construction with fewer components obstructing the valve flow.
