The invention relates to a process for cleaning plastics during recycling. A decanter, esp. a sieve decanter is used for cleaning and enables difficult pollutants e.g. liquids, pastes to be removed from the plastic without the use of a wet washing system. Brushes are built into the conveyer screw of the decanter to aid pollutant removal. If necessary wet washing may be carried out in the same appts and the washing fluid is separated from insoluble pollutants by centrifuging. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is suitable for removal of liquids, pastes or other adhesive pollutants from plastic during recycling, can be operated as a dry process, is more economical and uses compart equipment.
