A process for the removal of a pollutant in a medium, includes using a filter which has a number of hollow chambers. A high frequency electric field is used to raise the temp. and produce a temp. profile. Part of the field energy is dissipated in the filter body. The temp. causes the pollutants to break up, and the crack products are cooled and spatially sepd. after leaving the filter body. ADVANTAGE - The process is simple and economical and prevents any recombination of pollutants.
