摘要
The linear approximation method is for approximately printing a curve defined by two end points and at least one control point. It involves dividing the curve into a number of sections and joining adjacent sections via straight lines. The curve or the resulting partial curve is successively divided into two curve sections. The number of divisions is determined so as to reduce the difference between two values to less than a defined value. One value corresp. to the sum of the lengths of lines from the end points to a point on the curve. The other is the distance between the end points. USE/ADVANTAGE - For use with outline fonts, the linear approximation method can reduce the time required for generation of a font using an optimal number of divisions.
