The rectangular prefab unit described can be easily and rapidly assembled with other prefab units to obtain a narrow, reliably sealed joint subjected to a given high tensile force. To this end, rigid locking hooks (8) which engage mutually on assembly of the prefab units (1 and 2) and which exert a tensile force on the latter are arranged a certain distance apart one above the other in a groove (6) and fastened to the corresponding prefabricated building component (1 or 2), the groove (6) being provided in the front face of the prefab unit facing the joint. An automatic device for assembling the side walls composed of the above-mentioned prefab units with floors or ceilings formed from the same units is also described.
