PURPOSE: To obtain an alkali-resistant high-temperature refractory fiber suitable as a reinforced fiber for cement-based products by compounding silica with alumina and zirconia each at a specific ratio. CONSTITUTION: A fiber is formed by using a composition comprising 46-52 wt.%, preferably 46.4-50.1 wt.% silica, 32-38 wt.%, preferably 32.0-37.3 wt.% alumina, 13-18 wt.%, preferably 15.0-18.0 wt.% zirconia with 2.6-3.8, preferably 2.6-3.32 ratio of silica to zirconia ratio to provide the objective alkali-resistant high-temperature refractory fiber. The above fiber is used as a reinforcing fiber for cement-based products to provide a cement-based product excellent in heat resistant and mechanical strength by its excellent shrinkage resistance without being influenced by impurities such as an alkaline metal oxide, or the like.
