PURPOSE:To improve the sensitivity and life of a graphite particle by melting org. high-polymer particles or melting the same by a flux to form spot adhesion between the particles, carbonizing the particles in an inert gaseous atmosphere and forming a porous carbon body sintered to a granular shape. CONSTITUTION:Org. high-polymers, for example, PVC resin, chlorinated PVC resin, tragacanth gum, etc. are pulverized. The org. high-polymers of the pulverous powder are melted or melted by the flux to form the spot adhesion between the particles to form the porous org. high-polymer body. The body is then heated to =700 deg.C, more preferably =1,000 deg.C in an inert gaseous atmosphere, by which the body is carbonized and the porous carbon body sintered to the granular state is obtd. The platform for furnace atomic absorption analysis is formed of the graphite of such porous carbon body. Since the graphite is sintered by maintaining the skeleton of the porous carbon body, the graphite has high mechanical strength and the sensitivity and accuracy of the graphite furnace are improved. The service life thereof is improved as well.
