PRODUCTION OF ORGANIC BISGERMYLBUTENES AND NEW ORGANIC BISGERMYLBUTENES

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject compounds useful as a raw material for Ge- containing polymers from readily obtainable raw materials under a neutral condition in one a stage and readily by reacting a diene with a specific digermane in the presence of a Pd-containing catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A diene (e.g. butadiene or 1,3-cyclohexadiene) shown by formula I (R1 to R4 are H or alkyl) is reacted with a digermane (e.g. hexamethyldigermane or phenylpentamethyldigermane) shown by formula II (A1 to A6 are alkyl, aryl, etc.) in the presence of a palladium-containing catalyst (e.g. Pd-C) preferably at room temperature to -250 deg.C to give the objective 1,4-bisgermyl-2-butene shown by formula III. The ratio of the diene to the digermane is preferably from 100 times to 1/10.
