PURPOSE: To stably separate bubbles in the environment of microgravity and even in the conditions of trace flow rate by providing a pair of electrodes to the inside of the flow path of a conductive liquid-gas two-phase flow and conducting a current whose polarity periodically changes through the said electrodes to exert electromagnetic force on the conductive flow. ;CONSTITUTION: Coil power sources 18, 18' wherein the direction of current is periodically changed are provided in the vicinities of an inlet pipe 19 and an outlet pipe 20 in the liquid-gas separation interval of the flow path of a conductive liquid-gas two-phase flow 3. These coil power sources 18, 18' are connected to the coils 28, 29 of electromagnets 26, 27 provided in the liquid-gas separation interval of the flow path so that a magnetic field acts on the orthogonal direction of current thereof. The coils 28, 29 of the electromagnets 26, 27 are controlled so that electromagnetic force having the specified direction always acts on the conductive fluid by utilizing Fleming's left-hand rule even when the polarity of current are changed. Thereby bubbles are stably separated in the environment of microgravity even in the conditions of trace flow rate. Moreover, the bubbles of the conductive liquid-gas two-phase flow in which generation of trace gas due to electrolysis in the electrode part is little can be separated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
