The method is used for cascaded control of chemical reactors, heat exchangers, and other process facilities having relatively high inertia. This method is readily implemented, and can be used to decrease electric power consumption and reduce the duration of transition processes. According to this method, the specified X value, Xspec, and the current value X for the primary controlled parameter are used to generate an error signal used to determine the internally set value of μk, which is determined by the pre-set value of the controllable parameter Xmax. The control effect μ is applied to the object for a duration determined solely by the amount of time during which the intermediate parameter X1 remains between the maximum Xmax and minimum Xmin permissible values of the primary parameter Xmax and Xmin are variables.
