The picture to be concealed is intermediately stored. The stored picture is divided into squares of Y lines (Y) with X picture points (X). The product (XY) of line number (Y) and picture point number (X) is the same as the number (B) of picture points of one line of the picture. The number of squares is the same as the number (Z) of lines of the picture to be concealed. The squares are transmitted in a permutated sequence such that the lines from which they are recombined are transmitted in a meandering form. For example, the first line is transmitted from left to right and the second line is transmitted from right to left. Thus each square is accurately translated into one line of the picture to be transmitted. ADVANTAGE - Simple, inexpensive method which reproduces picture reliably and accurately without flicker.
