Structured packing, where packing elements are arranged to form a packed bed, has the packing elements in the form of upright standing saddles, the saddles, square, rhombic, or six cornered cross-section, the legs of the saddles constant width over their total lengths, and terminate in horizontal edges, the saddles vertically arranged, and assembled horizontally side by side, so that the legs (1) of end saddle form connections with the two legs of the adjacent saddle and the saddles are optionally arranged in vertical disposition.
