Arrow tooth chain for tunnel construction - has steel links with horizontal and vertical faces for smoother running of chain wheel

The vertical and horizontal chain links are formed by parallel link arms and connecting curves. The connecting curves (9) of the horizontal links (2,4) have horizontal and vertical arrow tooth faces (14,15) and the link arms (7) form a type of rail (19) whilst set back relative to the ends (20) of the curves. The tooth faces pref. have flanks forming a kinematically rising arrow tip (16) of 120 to 140 deg. The arrow tips can be rounded at the front like the link curve (10) of the vertical member (3). ADVANTAGE - The joints are supported with full surfaces instead of spot loads so that the pressures arising are substantially less. For use in underground mining.
