The radial piston pump has a piston (4) driven by an eccentric (3). It draws in oil via an inlet hole (12) in the piston base (9) which is closed by a valve (13) comprising a ball (15) and a seat (14). The ball is held in a cage (18) such that a flow cross section (F) of the inlet hole is greater than a flow cross-section (F1) between the maximum diameter (K) of the ball and the cage. Openings (20) are set above the ball, the movement of which is limited by a crosspiece (22). USE/ADVANTAGE - Pump in which the valve closure time is shortened and the valve noise reduced.
