A leakage testing chamber, for testing articles which have joints, axially surrounds the article accurately (at least in length) and has split line by the mid-plane or along the one surface of the article; the chamber has also a circumferential recess covering the joint to the tested and connected to the source of gas used; the axial openings in the article are sealed off, and at least one seal has an opening for connection to a vacuum and to a leak detector. The parts of the chamber are pref. made of an elastomer, alternatively of a rigid plastic material or metal but with elastomer joints; the seals are pref. of soft polyurethane or silicone. ADVANTAGE - The product is suitable for connecting up to an automatic testing apparatus. It can test just the areas which alone are liable to leak, without pollution of the atmosphere.
