The connector has a plug (31) with a plastics housing (32) at the end of a h.v. cable (28) which supplies the gas discharge lamp (13). Inside the plug housing (32) the leads (35, 38) of the cable (28) are separated from each other by plastics material cladding. The leads (35, 38) end in separate chambers (37, 40) in the housing (32). Contact sleeves (43) are arranged at the ends of the leads (35, 38) in these chambers (37, 40). Contact pins (19) arranged in the terminal cables (17) of the lamp (13) can be plugged into the sleeves (43). The lamp (13) is held in a lamp carrier (14) at the reflector (10) of the spotlight. The housing (32) is releasably attached to the lamp carrier (14) by a locking connection (15, 46). ADVANTAGE - Lamp has simplified construction and only one plug needs to be attached or removed. Only few individual parts are needed and connector only requires small space.
