The system includes fine puncture needles for insertion into the body, which accommodate an optical fibre. The tip of the puncture needle (1) can be deflected by an eccentrically fitted fibre, which is operated from the outside. The puncture needle is surrounded by a stiffening sleeve (8), which is removable from the fine puncture needle. The needle has an outside dia. of less than 1.5 millimetres. The needle entry and the destruction of the stones is monitored using an ultrasonic scanner. ADVANTAGE - Gall stones removed as far as possible without trauma.
