Decorative laminates (I) are produced by (1) making a transfer printing sheet contg. (a) a substrate film contg. a synthetic resin, (b) opt. a release layer contg. a mixt. of acrylic resin and melamine resin, formed on the substrate, (c) a patterned layer formed on (a) (or b) and (d) an adhesive layer contg. a mixt. of butylaldehyde resin (BA) and melamine resin (MF), formed on layer (c), (2) applying this sheet to a paper base sheet, (3) hot-pressing the two sheets, (4) stripping the substrate film from the transfer sheet and so transferring the pattern layer to the base sheet, (5) impregnating the base sheet with a heat-curable resin contg. a melamine resin and (6) hot-pressing to cure the resin. USE/ADVANTAGE - (I) is used for interior decoration (wall and floor covering materials, etc.), furniture, kitchen fitments, etc. The process enables the prodn. of high quality resin-impregnated laminate in which the pattern layer, adhesive layer and base sheet are strongly bonded with a heat curable resin; the above combination of resins enables uniform penetration of the various layers by the impregnating resin and practically eliminates blistering and/or delamination when the prod. is exposed to heat from hot kitchenware, etc.
