Point quantum elements are produced by simultaneously pptg. a cluster-forming substance on to a substrate and polymerising organic monomers by means of a plasma discharge so as to form a polymer structure with occluded clusters. The distribution of cluster sizes is limited by coalescing adjacent clusters in an electron beam. ADVANTAGE - Systems can be produced in a simple manner in contrast with (partic.) lithography or etching methods. Any arrangements of virtually equal size clusters can be produced. Interlocking cluster systems can be produced with different sizes of clusters.
