Light-emitting p-n junctions (2) are arranged on a p-Si square substrate (1) and excited in accordance with printing data. At a distance (3) from the substrate a fibre-optic cross-section converter (4) is placed with its fibre ends (7) aligned with the emitters (2). The other ends (9) of the fibres form a linear array at a predetermined distance (10) from an aligned array (12) of self-focusing lenses (11) about 1 mm in dia. focused on the plane (14) of e.g. a record carrier. ADVANTAGE - Precise positioning and high resolution are achieved with simple structure.
