Water hardness and pH long term control e.g. in ponds, fish tanks etc. - by circulating part of water through ion exchange unit for reduced mineral content and volume of water circulated is regulated in relation to pH value

In a new procedure for regulating the hardness and pH of water, a pH meter controls a water circuit containing an ion-exchange unit which greatly reduces the salt content of the circulated water before returning it to the main body of water. Also claimed is an application of this procedure to the long-term control of the hardness and pH of water, in which a circulating pump (P) delivers or draws a volume of water through an ion-exchange unit (VE) and then returns it to the main body of water. The flow rate of water through the pump is controlled by a pH measuring system (F,PHR). USE/ADVANTAGE - For long-term control of the hardness and pH of water, in fish tanks, ponds, etc. This is achieved in an accurate and economical manner without the addn. of chemicals, e.g. carbonic acid - to the water.
