Cop tray transport arrangement - has supplementary drive to enable incoming cop tray to take precedence at a junction with the main conveyor band

Transport system, with individual cop trays to support cops or tubes, which are carried on plates on a conveyor band. At the junction where trays are transported from one band to another, additional surface contact is provided for the incoming tray to give assisted movement. Pref. the base (5) of the cop tray is carried by friction along the conveyor band. To prevent angular movement of the vertical cop, there is a channel forming a wall at each side of the band, with a profile (8, 8') to cover the edges of the base (5). The plate (10) above the base (5) separates two parallel bands (7, 15) and is shaped to form a passage for the coptray (6) into the junction (16), along with a similar plate (12) to direct the coptray (6) from the band (13). As the coptray (1) on the main conveyor (7) would hold back and cause a disruption in contact with the coptray (6), boost is given to the movement of this tray. A belt around the two wheels (18, 20) touches the side of the base (5) of the coptray (6). By means of the attached disc (17) to the wheel (18), which lies beneath and has contact with the main conveyor band, the belt (19) is driven to give additional impetus to the side of the plate (5) of the coptray (6). The belt may alternatively be driven by a crown wheel arrangement, and spring held friction rollers tensioned against the bottom section of the main conveyor band. This method ensure a better grip and non-slip drive. Should the subsidiary conveyor meet the main band at a right angles, then a curved deflection in the profiled side wall, will provide a resting place for coptray (1), while coptray (6) takes precedence. USE - To prevent a tray on the main conveyor from retaining an incoming tray from a secondary conveyor, when the two meet at the junction.
