Tool, for processing plastic materials, with weak adjustment - using dovetail guides having flat supporting surface resting on tool plate with centralising groove and key between plate and guide

The tool has guides for the tool plates. The guides have dovetailed side faces which contact corresp. inclined surfaces at the edge of guide strips attached to a tool plate on the ejector side. Both the tool plate surface and the flat base of the guide strips, which are parallel to each other, have opposing centralising grooves to accept a centralising key. The combined depth of the grooves is greater than the key depth, which leaves a free space above the key. When the flat base of the guide strips is machined to even out wear, the free space still accommodates the key. Only the underside of the guide strips requires grinding to compensate for wear. Guide strips pref. have built in lubricating inserts with open sections facing the tool plate guide areas. The open chambers contain lubricant e.g. graphite or molybdenum disulphide. USE/ADVANTAGE - The system can be applied to moulding tools, esp. for plastics. Wear in the guide strips and opposing bearing surfaces of tool plates can be easily compensated.
