The isolating circuit separates the vehicle battery (2) from the generator (3) using an isolator switch (1.1). The switch may be actuated manually at the battery or remotely from the driver seat via a second switch (1.4). Essential warning devices such as indicator lights and tachograph (4') remain coupled, whilst other loads (4) are isolated. The release of the isolator switch is controlled electrically by an engine stop relay (1.2) that opens as soon as the engine comes to rest. The generator output (D+) is used to identify this condition. ADVANTAGE - Reliable system for isolating vehicle battery, avoids voltage spikes damaging system after battery isolation.
