A tyre has a (partic. radial) carcass and a tread reinforced by a belt layer with two or more layers of two separately wound wrap strips made of material which shrinks when heated. Separate wrapped strips start from the edge of the be they are wound in opposite directions continuously; they cross at one point and there continue in opposite directions to form another wrapping; and they end at the opposite edges of the belt.
