Superconducting magnetometer, e.g. for measuring earth's magnetic field from aircraft - has several SQUIDs at defined angles, and computes field from results of measurements in constant field state and in use
The superconducting magnetometer includes several superconducting quantum interference devices (2A-2C) arranged at defined angles to each other and a driver (4A-4C) to produce desired output signals for computation of a measurement magnetic field on the basis of the driver output. Inherent system parameters are computed by one device (7) from the driver output signals in the constant magnetic field state and stored (8). A second device (9) computes a second parameter which varies in use from the driver and storage device signals. The measurement field is derived (10) from the outputs of the driver in use, the output of the storage device and the output of the second computation device. ADVANTAGE - Eliminates large errors when simultaneous linear equation solved.
