Fuzzy logic controller for electric motors - has motor load parameters measured and fed back to select fuzzy actions to be interpreted for drive control

A fuzzy controller for use in the load dependent control of electric motors (1) uses inputs from sensors (2a-2c) measuring load current, speed and temperature. The values are received by a fuzzy logic stage (3) that generates 'membership values' that are received by an inference unit that has stored rules for generating regulating actions. The possible output control action values are received by a 'de-fuzzification' stage (6) providing control of the motor drive. ADVANTAGE - Reduces processing for robust fuzzy control.
