The mfg. system uses a ceramic laminate which is provided with a concave section. The laminate has a number of films of a material which is removed by burning, acting as spaced layers in the ceramic at the location of the concave section. The laminate is heated to remove these films to obtain hollow spaces (19,20) spaced by a number of thin layers (21,22) which can be ruptured, so that the laminate collapses to form the concave section. Pref. the film material comprises a resin contg. carbon. ADVANTAGE - Allows formation of concave section of complicated shape.
