The gun comprises an elongate hollow body (1) with two narrowed portions (1a,b) spaced from each other along its length by a wider portion (1c). An internal shaft (3) is mounted slidably within the body, guided by the internal walls of the narrowed portions. The shaft has an enlarged portion (4) at a point along its length corresponding to the wider portion of the body, adjacent to one of the narrowed portions of the body. ADVANTAGE - Controlled actuation of shaft, preventing damage to or accidental loss of semen-carrying straw.
