System for synthesis of microwave filters - uses computer aided design of filter that accepts measures of parameters of coupler and cavity to aid design

The synthesis is applied to microwave filters formed of a rectangular microwave guide comprising several resonators without coupling screws and coupled one to the other by coupling elements of finite thickness. Signals representative of the coefficient of coupling of the coupling elements is stored in memory together with the resonant frequency of the resonators. The response to the signals representing the thickness of the couplers is used to calculate the relative width of the couplers. The variation of the length of the resonators with variation of the coupling coefficients is computed. The final width of the couplers and the length of the resonators is then computed and displayed. ADVANTAGE - Microwave filter design method that gives rapid convergence, reducing time and cost of development.
