PURPOSE:To form the joint part of stainless steels to each other without liquid leakage by using a copper brazing filler metal formed by incorporating specific ratios of Fe, Ni, Cr, Al, and Si into copper. CONSTITUTION:The copper brazing filler metal contains, by wt%, 2-3.3% Fe, 0.4-1.0% Ni, 1-1.5% Cr, 0.1-0.3% Al, and 0.03-0.1% Si and the balance Cu. Elements 2, 2 for a heat exchanger consisting of, for example, hemmed stainless steel sheets are superposed and the copper brazing filler metal 1 made of the above-mentioned compsn. is melted in a vacuum furnace to braze the elements. Void-free uniform structure is obtd. in the brazed part when the elements are joined by using the copper brazing filler metal 1 in the above- mentioned manner. The liquid leakage from the brazed part is, therefore, obviated and the secure joint structure is formed.
