PURPOSE: To obtain a fiber product resistant to proliferation of bacteria and capable of keeping the hygienic state over a long period by immersing a fiber product, etc., in an aqueous solution containing an inorganic antibacterial agent produced by supporting antibacterial metals, metallic ions, etc., on a carrier and an amino compound or a carboxylic acid derivative. ;CONSTITUTION: A carrier (e.g. tricalcium phosphate, zirconium phosphate and zeolite) is added under heating to an aqueous solution containing salt or ion of an antibacterial metal such as silver, copper or zinc and the produced precipitate is optionally calcined to obtain an inorganic antibacterial agent. A fiber product such as clothes and beddings or sanitary cloth such as wet towel for hand wiping is immersed in a liquid incorporated with the antibacterial agent and an amino compound (e.g. L-aspartic acid salt or alanine) and/or a carboxylic acid derivative to obtain a safe antibacterial fiber product free from generation of foul smell. The adsorptive attachment of the antibacterial agent to a fiber product can be carried out also by washing the fiber product with a detergent containing an anionic or nonionic surfactant and incorporated with the antibacterial agent or by sizing the product with a paste incorporated with the antibacterial agent.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
