PURPOSE: To dispense with movement of an optical system or a sample when the area exposed to exciting light is changed or when a two-dimensional surface analysis is executed in an apparatus for evaluating photophysical properties from the exciting light applied from an exciting light source and reflected or transmitted by the sample. ;CONSTITUTION: One end side of an optical fiber bundle 20 for application of exciting light is opposed to a lens 21 for application of the exciting light, while the other end side is led into a vacuum tank 2 and made to face a sample 10, and an image is formed on the sample 10 by a lens 22. The optical fiber bundle 20 is prepared by turning up the ends of a number of optical fibers 23 so that emission ends are arranged in the shape of a matrix. The one end side of the optical fiber bundle 20 is scanned sequentially by varying the position of the lens 21, and thereby the exposed area of the sample 10 is changed.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
