The pick-up consists of magnetostrictive material (1) which is mechanically coupled to the bridge and converts the dynamic pressure acting on the bridge from one or more strings to a varying magnetic flow which is detected by a coil (6). The magnetostrictive material is a high magnetostrictive composite material. A magnet (3) is placed at one or both ends of the magnetostrictive material and the coil (6) is placed around it. A material with good magnetic permeability at high frequencies is placed on one or both ends of the magnetostrictive material. A head (4) of material with great hardness and good wear resistance is position in extension of the magnetostrictive material and functions as locating surface for the strings. The head is made of a ferro-magnetic material with high magnetic permeability. The microphone comprises a separate unit for each string or a common unit for all the strings.
