A process for producing copper sulphate from a liquid waste containing copper comprising the stages of recovering acid and basic copper-containing liquid and neutralizing the liquid to form crystalline copper sulphate, in which the ratio between the acid and basic copper, the temperature, the pH value and the copper ion concentration in the solutions resulting from each stage are controlled so that solid copper sulphate is obtained in high yield and purity and in such a way that it is of a larger particle size and at the same time that the filtrate contains copper ions in a concentration of less than 0.3 parts per million before being discharged into the environment.
